According to ancient Egyptian mythos, the sun (Ra) rolls across the sky each day and transforms bodies and souls. Modeled upon the Scarabaeidae family dung beetle, which rolls dung into a ball to lay its eggs, the scarab was seen as an earthly symbol of this heavenly cycle. It is believed to be a symbol of rebirth and good luck.Lovely beads are hand carved from turquoise blue faience. No two are exactly alike!  Please note that there are some size variations in these but most measure 14-15mm wide x 21-22mm long with a 3mm hole.  Thickness also varies but ranges from 10mm thick to 13.5mm thick. The English measurements for the beads are approximately 0.9 inches long by 0.6 inch wide (approximately 22mm long by 13mm wide). The hole which has been drilled lengthwise, is a generous 3mm (0.14 inch ) in diameter.  Note that the top of the beads have been lightly glazed.  They come in a package of 10 beads.
